Hey Fan-mily! As many of you know, I have not been performing during the Covid-19 shutdown. And despite venues re-opening, there are but a few in Minnesota that are including live music in their process. So, in an effort to stay sane, I’ve been indulging in my other creative habits.
In particular I love cooking, so I’ve had fun trying new recipes or making creations from my imagination. I shared more about this in my previous blog post, but here’s a pic for fun ⤵️
I randomly decided to make a pair of jeans into a skirt since they weren’t fitting well anymore. Its all hand sewn–which was interesting (aka kind of hilarious) since I never sew–and that went decently well. I haven’t worn it and likely wont due to the sizing issue. However, it was a fun experiment and maybe I’ll pass it along to a friend if they don’t mind my jaggedly sewn lines which will hopefully look better as the frayed edges creep closer. #needtofixmysewingmachine
I also saved a long t-shirt that had belt holes from getting tossed by shredding tassels in the front and back. This one I wore recently and while it’s not totally perfect, I’m pleased with the results so far.
Somewhere along the way I finally found motivation to play with my garden. I had put it off for months, despite my intention to plant earlier this year. I typically plant in pots or large containers, which is my preferred method as a renter.
I’m so excited to announce that my very first jalapeno peppers are sprouting. I don’t really like to brag, but I’m proud to say that I actually kept this plant alive from last summer. It flowered indoors in late spring, but it really needed to be returned outside to the heat and given a little mulch to start producing this year. This plant pumped out the peppers last year, so I’m hoping for another successful season, especially because I want to try my hand at pickling and canning them this year! #wastenotwantnot #feelinghothothot
